The Working4Business Awards are back for 2023!

These awards celebrate the success and achievements of businesses in West Dunbartonshire and are a great opportunity to promote your company. Winners will be unveiled at a glittering awards dinner hosted by Jennifer Reoch on Friday 26th May at the Clydebank Town Hall.

The Host

Jennifer Reoch is a Scottish Television and Radio presenter and is best known for being on Heart Radio Drivetime weekdays across Scotland  and has been on your screens on BBC 1 for The One Show, BBC travel show 'Getaways', ITV's 'This Morning' and STV on shows such as 'Live at Five', 'Edinburgh Festival 2018' and the 'Scottish Children’s Lottery'.

Most Promising New Business Award 

This award is for businesses less than three years old that demonstrate a high degree of entrepreneurship and vision for the future, with the potential for further growth and expansion in turnover, profit and employment levels.

Successful businesses will clearly articulate the business idea and start up process, giving evidence of a well-researched business plan and forecasts for business performance.

If possible, the business should be offering something new to the marketplace and the management style should be entrepreneurial and ambitious. Applicants should present a well-defined vision for the future showing how the business is building towards an enterprise of considerable potential, ideally through evidence of sales, profits and employment achieved to date.

Best Performing Small Business Award 

This award is intended to highlight successful businesses in the West Dunbartonshire area employing between 1-5 full time employees.  They will be able to demonstrate a clearly defined strategy for developing and growing the business in terms of turnover, employment, innovative marketing and communications. Entrants will be able to demonstrate a strong sales focus. Staff personal development and total involvement of the workforce in the growth of the business is also important.  The winner will demonstrate entrepreneurial characteristics with dynamic and measurable systems in place to monitor performance, financial controls, marketing and sales growth.

Best Performing Medium Business Award 

This award is intended to highlight successful businesses in the West Dunbartonshire area employing 6-25 full time employees.  They will be able to demonstrate a clearly defined strategy for developing and growing the business in terms of turnover, employment, innovative marketing and communications. Entrants will be able to demonstrate a strong sales focus. Staff personal development and total involvement of the workforce in the growth of the business is also important.  The winner will demonstrate entrepreneurial characteristics with dynamic and measurable systems in place to monitor performance, financial controls, marketing and sales growth.

Best Performing Large Business Award 

This award is intended to highlight successful businesses in the West Dunbartonshire area employing more than 25 full time employees. Entrants will be able to demonstrate a strong sales focus. Family Business Success Award 

The most successful family firms find a good balance between the needs of the business, the owners, and the dynamics of the family. For this category judges will look for evidence of professional management and responsible ownership. Diplomacy and communication skills need to be demonstrated while ensuring that growth, development and strategic ambitions continue to be met.

Developing the Young Workforce Award 

This award is open to organisations that can demonstrate how they have helped develop the young workforce in West Dunbartonshire. This should be evident in activities they get involved in to support young people and how they recruit & develop future staff.

Innovation in Business Award 

This award category is open to businesses which have successfully developed innovative products, technologies or services, or who have developed innovative ways of doing business with customers. Entrants will show high degree of creativity and will be exploring ways to exploit their innovation to its fullest potential.

Judges will look for evidence of how the innovation has been developed and applied to improve its commercial performance, operational effectiveness or customer engagement.  You must be able to show that your business has substantially improved in areas of performance and commercial success.

Journey to Net Zero Award  

This category is open to all businesses that have, or are successfully innovating and pivoting to develop either technologies, services, products, internal operations or existing systems that serve to support in meeting the net zero goal for the region.

Businesses applying for this category will be able to showcase solutions that have been actively implemented, or that are currently underway which will help drive the objective of net-zero emissions of all greenhouse gases.

We will be looking for entrants who will be able to exhibit and provide examples of how they have put creativity, innovation and inclusivity at the fore when approaching their net zero targets.

Business Resilience Award 

The Award for Business Resilience will recognise businesses which have shown a proactive approach to safeguarding their operations through resilience planning, ensuring that they can continue operate when disruption occurs.

This might include, for example, how a business will respond to a cyber-attack, disruption to your supply chain or employee turnover, damage to business premises or equipment or legislative changes (BREXIT/COVID restrictions). 

Companies or organisations should also be able to demonstrate an innovative approach to their    resilience planning and how they engage with their staff and suppliers to ensure the business model can adapt to thrive and potentially grow during uncertain times.
